We realised that women in informal settlements struggle with high unemployment and low-income rates with the dilemma of needing to take care of children but the need to be economically active. 33% of the female population in informal settlements were between the ages of 25 and 45 and therefore able to be economically active, but with limited opportunities.

From Reckitt Benckiser’s commitment to hygiene and sanitation, social health, and human dignity, we developed Project Hope as a better business initiative. Project Hope invested a year in developing market research, developing educational material, and in sourcing a team of amazing women who have been established as Hopepreneurs in their own businesses.
